The Sigmon Stringers, a three-generation bluegrass band from Newton, NC has something to offer both the young and old! The original band members Clinton Sigmon, his two sons Randy and Mark, and life-long friend Ray Barger have been performing since the early 70’s. They performed with Bluegrass Pioneers such as Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Jimmy Martin and Ralph Stanley!
To bring a new dimension to “old-time” bluegrass; the third generation has been added. Randy’s daughter Anna plays banjo and Mark’s kids- Beau, Mollie and Maggie complete the band. Beau is on lead guitar and mandolin, Mollie plays mandolin and sings, and Maggie (only 10) fiddles and assists with vocals.
The award winning band has played many venues on the east coast but playing MerleFest last year and being invited back this year has been our most exciting achievement! MerleFest is the premiere music festival in the country and we are ecstatic about playing here again! Another thrill for the band was opening for Doc Watson at the Old Soldiers Reunion Celebration in Newton, NC. This is the oldest patriotic celebration in the nation and that night was electric.
The kids along with Mark, Randy, Clinton and Ray are fun to watch and make great listening. The kids fast flying fingers and talent will amaze and delight any age audience.
